Trail Running Bucket List
A while back I put together a personal “top 10” list of trail runs I want to complete in my lifetime. In terms of running goals, I find myself drawn less to the big races and time goals, and more to the thing that makes me want to get out the door and run in the first place: running in beautiful places and taking on technical and logistical challenges. This is my list as it currently stands. I plan to keep this updated and write more about my journey here.
- The Four Pass Loop, CO: The #1 ranked trail run in the US. Attempted in 2023.
- Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim, AZ: A 44-mile out and back of the Grand Canyon.
- The Zion Traverse, AZ: 48 miles, supposed to be one of the most beautiful runs in the country.
- Cactus to Clouds Skyline Trail, CA: The most vertical gain of any contiguous trail in the US (10764ft).
- The Presidential Traverse, NH
- The Wonderland Trail, WA: A 99 mile circumnavigation of Mt. Rainier.
- Manhattan Loop: or the NYC marathon
- Kepler Track, New Zealand: A beautiful 38 mile route in NZ.
- Hong Kong Trail: 31 miles across Hong Kong.
- The Kumano Kodo 熊野古道: Hiked this in 2023. Want to return and run it.
